Ron's squonk log
#1
Just re-built my Derringer. First time since I got it and the owl.

8 wraps .45 kanthal for 0.52 ohms wicked Scotish roll. Running it at 60W on my shiny new dino-squonk.

15ml bottle is now about 2/3 full of my home-brew tropical fruits juice.

Added magnets to the door of my spalted ash squonk mod.

Topped up the bottle with homebrew custard.

Built the lowpro that arrived today - makes the derringer look huge! Dual coils 8 spaced wraps of .45 for ~.5 ohms running it at 60W with the airflow closed down as far as it'll go.

It's a clone. Quality is fine, it spent 10 minutes in the ultrasonic before I used it. The screw heads could do with being .5mm wider, but they trapped the wire no problem. The positive block and centre screws look to be plated in something silvery.

I built the coils, put them in for a dry burn and check, took them out, wicked them and then put them back. It was a bit of a faff to be honest, but I guess that's the price you pay for the size.

It's just the chuff cap, it screws on and has a baffle at the bottom, no 510 adaptor, they supplied two, the black one and a white one. I've not suffered from any spit-back even at 80W but my coils are out by the air holes.

Fair enough. It's only about 2mm bigger dia. than the drip tips I usually use. The one on the derringer is particularly skinny.
